Honesty.

Wow. Third post in a day.

I wanted to be clear on a couple of points, make sure that anyone who ever reads this understands this about me.
- I believe I'm a religious person. I'm sure of my faith,I fast, and I pray. Since this is a totally honest blog, I want you to know that I do try and pray every 5 prayers of the day. Sometimes I forget, and sometimes it doesn't happen. I also began actually being able to say that I pray only about a year ago- and I've had the hijab on for about 6 years now. I'm turning 21 in a week. Yes, I know prayer is supposed to come before hijab, but it didn't work that way with me.
- I believe in everybody doing as much as they can. A prayer a day to someone who hasn't prayed in a year is an achievement.
- In no way do I believe that I know more about religion than anyone reading this. I probably don't.
- I don't wear Jilbab or Abaya.
- I do, however, dress modestly. That's what this blog is about. Trying to find a way to dress modestly, and still look good. That's what I know about, and that's what I'm blogging about.

I really, really hope you enjoy and share my blog with everyone you know!
Thank you for reading this.

Salam :)

Different kinds of hijab

So, there are a billion types of hijabs. Ameera, Isharb, 7jab turki, etc. Many, many types of fabric, and just about a billion ways to put it on.
Some people do this thing I think looks like a bun. Not necessarily in a bad way, but that's how it looks like.
Anyways, I usually stick with a beige or white Ameera. An Ameera is the 2 piece hijab, the easiest and fastest one to put on.
It's nice and light, and goes with everything. The only downside is that sometimes it's not as long as I'd like it to be, to be able to stuff it into a shirt or whatever.
If I'm wearing something fancy, I'll wear one of the silky wrap ones I have, also white or beige.

During the summer, I always see girls wearing really bright plain hijabs, the wrap ones. Alot of girls pull it off, especially with the really intense colors like turquoise or purple.

I've also never wanted to wear a print hijab. I don't get them, they totally limit what you can wear with the hijab. It usually doesn't look good when wearing 2 different prints, and especially not when you wear 2 mtching prints, and 1 of them is on your hijab. Oopahhh.
I know that mixing prints is in now, and I love it, but I personally wouldn't try out that rend with my head.

There's this big trend now in Jordan, where girls put 1-3 big flower clips under their hijabs, like this one:-

This is supposed to add volume under your hijab and make you seem like you have Rapunzel-like hair, you end up with this big hump under your hijab. A lot of girls like this look. I don't like it, and I do not encourage it. It just doesn't look good.
Some girls I've asked have told me that it has nothing to do with volume or anything like that, they think it makes them seem slimmer. The bigger the hair, the smaller the waist, ah?

Haven't been on in a while

Hello!
So I haven't posted anything in about a year. This post is actually a result of my mother's encouragement, I'm going to start blogging again.
She's awesome.
At this point, I really have no idea if anyone reads this/ has read this.
I hope you're having a good day.

Whaaaaaaaaat?

Leggings and Hijab.
Whaaaaaaaaaaaa???
Whyyyy???
Whyyyyyy would girls do that to themselvesss?
It looks ridiculous.

Like walking oxymorons.

I mean, sometimes i see girls, and yeah, they're wearing very long shirts, like flowy tunics to their knees or below, with thick, opaque leggings.
Okay, that's cool.
i mean, i see where they're coming from.

But seriouslllly?

There are girls, and i kid you not, who wear leggings (as pants) so TIGHT that you can see right through, camel toe and all, and they have a big colorful hijab on.

whaaaaaat?

i mean, if i saw anyyyybody - hijab or no hijab- like that, I'd be like whoa.
nobody wants to see that much.
but a girl wearing hijabbbb?

i just don't understand what these girls are thinking while they're getting dressed.
i don't get ittttt.

But then again, to each her own.
Maybe I'm the one who doesn't get it, i don't know.
But please please, at least wear a long shirt/tunic if you're going to do this.
Hijabi or not, nobody wants to see allll of you.

Sometimes i see girls wearing hijab, and also wearing miniskirts, with colored tights underneath.

i dont get that either.

AHHHHH

and i also dont get some girls who wear these stilettos. im not talking about any stilettos, alot of stilettos are veryyy nice, i love them

there are some though,  that are extremely sexy, kinda dominatrix like, and all strappy and stuff. like leathery or plastic or whatever.

whaaaaaaat?

i see alooooot of girls wearing those, and i just find it kinda weird.

to wear hijab, and then these extra skinny jeans, with a short shirt and dominatrix stilettos.

whaaaaat?

hmmmmmmm
I'm trying to find a picture of exactly what i mean, i really don't mean just any stilettos, there's a certain extreme I'm looking for.
to be fair, i barely see anybody with heels like the ones I'm thinking of, and hijab. I've probably only seen it once or twice.

aaaagh well nowwww i cant find a picture.Great.

Sooooooo there's my rant.

Is it just meeeeee???
I'm trying not to judge, jaddd trying, and thank god, i don't really know anybody like that. I mean, on one hand, i kinda wish i did know someone like that, so i could pick their brain. But i do see them all the time, and i don't understand where they're coming from.

I don't mean that i think i dress like a perfect mt7jbeh or anything like that, but i think that i am pretty modest.
Anyyyyways, just wanted to post this, and if anybody reads this, tell me whatchya think :)

Buttttton Downs Go All Arounnnnnnd

Soooooo
Welllll
Since I've been in California I've pretty much been wearing the same shirt/jeans combo everydaaay.
Not literally the same shirt or pair of jeans, but kinda the same thing.
But HAHA I'M ON VACATION, AND NOBODY KNOWS ME SO HA.
I'm actually liking it.

so everyday it's pretty much a button down shirt, a necklace (sometimes without one 7ta- I'm THAT lazy when I'm here visiting my family), my cross body bag- which I've been in looove with since i came here, and flats. ohh and sunglasses.

hahaha the crossbody bag kinda fits in with my whole lazy thing, i only started liking them when i got that i won't have to hold it, just put it on and go.

but then again, i have been changing the colors and fits and stuff. its not the EXACT same everyday. well except for today and yesterday i guess. i packed all my stuff to get ready to go back to Jordan, and forgot to keep some clothes out to wear. veryyy smart move. and yeaaaah, I'm not going to unpack and do it all over again, so toz.

i loveeeee not knowing anybody here.
it rockssss.

so now i have about a billion button down shirts.

They were everywhere this summer. I've worn them with/without belt. With scarves, with necklaces, with everythinggggg. That's why i love them

And since now the boyfriend fit is in, that really works with hijab

And i mean, casual button downs are usually on the longer side anyways.

The best thing about them is that they're so lightttt, which helps in 110 degree weather. I don't like wearing layers in the summer. its too hotttt!
And as long as i can keep my button downs working, i will.

I love wearing a regular button down shirt with a contrasting scarf, (light/dark, or different patterns) or a big chunky necklace.

Now you know exactlyy what I've been wearing for the past 3 months.

Congratulations!!!

And yeaaaaah, longer button down shirts are SUPPOSED to be a little on the larger side, they're not supposed to be skin tight, so don't do that. And i mean, if they are too tight, you'll know, the front button will probably try to burst open.
Just get a bigger size, it's only a number!
or a letter, or whatever. It doesn't mean anything, and only you will know anyways, we'll just see a better fit.

So i actually have this shirt in a deep blue, and i love it.

It's from Old Navy, and the price is pretty cool.

Gotta love the fall

You've gotta love the fall. Or autumn, whatever you call it. You've gotta love it.

I mean, any hijabi should love it- anything can be made to be worn with hijab, or already is hijabified. (sneakkkky sneaky designers, i know)

So, the one thing i cannnnnot wait to be able to wear every single day is my blazer. I already got away with wearing it twice this month, because i really am dying to wear it, but it's about 113 degrees over here in Cali. It just isnt practical for now.

I currently have two, one navy and one black, and they're both pretty much the same cut. The black one is kinda boxy though, which is why now I'm loving the navy one.

I was in love with the black one just for that reason, the whole boxy effect, and I still am, but I just got the navy blue one, hence the infatuation.

It's a longer, slimmer cut, hits right at my fingertips actually. Which is greatttt, since I'm pairing it with a pair of skinny jeans, it's all about proportions, and I don't want my booty all out there (hint hint, nudge nudge)

Both times I wore it with kinda skinny jeans, black flats, and a bright sleeveless shirt underneath.

Both times the shirts had some kind of ruffles or pleats, which I love in shirts. Especially silk, flowy ones. How pretty, and especially with that pop of color, loveeeeee. Remember to make sure the neckline is not high.

Nothing ruins a look for me like a high neckline.

I think high necklines make a girl looks like she's being suffocated by her hijab, and makes her head look very big, her face veryyyy tiny, and her chest very boxy and big.

It throws off the whole flow of the outfit, the proportions, and ultimately makes a girl look bigger than she is.
If it's too low, that's fine, pin it in with safety pins, it will look much better than a high neckline.
I wore a white Amira hijab with these, and i usually stick to either white or off white hijabs. Either a wrap around scarf with an Amira piece underneath, or a full on Amira.

I like the clothes to do the talking, not necessarily a colorful hijab.

Ohhhh, and with the pleats, ruffles, the bright colors, and all the contrast, there really was no need for a necklace. I really wanted to showcase the shirt. Buttt, you will never find me without a ring.

Rings are our friends :)

aghhhhh, FYI don't do dishes in silk fuchsia shirts. Mine's still at the dry cleaners.

I'm going to try and incorporate as many things as I can from my actual wardrobe, and when i can, I'll post pictures of my actual outfit.

This purse is a Steve Madden satchel.

The yellow sleeveless shirt is from Forever21, and is a halter top (that's what the whole loopy thingy is).

Helllllo

Hellllllllo,

Well, this is my first post. I hope somebody is reading and enjoying this!!!

So basicallllly, this post is about stuff I would wear. I get it if some people don't like what I wear, so that's cool :)
I for one think I dress pretty well, and have learned about things that do and don't work with hijab.

And no, I don't wear Abaya. I don't really think I ever will. I believe I dress modestly, and I'm very comfortable in everything i wear. So this blog won't really be centered around any kind of Abayas or Jilbabs or anything like that. Pretty much just regular clothes, hijabified à la Nisreen ;)

I respect women who wear Abaya and Jilbab, I dont though, so I'm going to blog about what I know.

I've been wearing the Hijab for about 5 years, and I really like it.

I think that anything can be hijabified. I don't think "hijabified" is a word, I think I just made it up. but I'm not exactly sure. I'll get back to you on that.

This post will also be about other things to do with hijab, or maybe just something I wanted to share!

I'll be posting something soon :)
